CONNER, Lt. Col. USAF (Ret.) Robert J., age 89, of Centerville, formerly of Annapolis, MO., passed away on Sunday, April 8, 2012 at Cape May Assisted Living Center in Wilmington.
He was a graduate of Annapolis High School and received his Bachelor's Degree in Military Science from the University of Maryland and his Master's Degree in Education from Westfield State College in Massachusetts. Robert served in the United States Air Force and the Army Air Corp during World War II, the Vietnam War and the Korean War.
He was an active member of the St. George's Episcopal Church, Daedalians, S.A.R. (Sons of American Revolutions), Society of War of 1812, Sons of Civil War Veterans, VFW Post # 14000, American Legion Post # 0598 and was a volunteer at the Wright Patterson Air Force Base Museum.
Robert was preceded in death by his loving wife, Jean Conner (Easter); his parents, Nelson and Brittania Conner; and grandson, Kyle York. Robert is survived by daughters, Dawn Conner Wagley, Camille Conner York and Constance Leigh Godich; son, Robert Craig Conner; grandchildren, Bradley York, Erin York Stanley, Ross Wagley, Ryan Wagley, Steven Godich and Brittany Conner; great-grandchildren, Owen, Alex, and Teagan; and brother, Nelson L. Conner.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00am on Friday, April 13, 2012 at St. George's Episcopal Church, 5520 Far Hills Ave. in Kettering with the Rev. Ben Phillips officiating. Family will receive friends following the service at the church until 1:00pm. A committal service with Military Honors will be held at 1:30pm at David's Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the staff at Cape May Assisted Living Center for their loving care and support over the past year.
