REPASKY, Robert L., age 60, of Centerville, OH passed peacefully in his sleep on Sunday the 23rd of November, 2014.
Born in Pittsburgh, PA, he spent the majority of his childhood in Syracuse, NY. After graduating from Christian Brothers Academy in 1972 he went on to study criminal justice at the University of Dayton and graduated in 1976. He was appointed to the FBI as a clerk in Washington, DC. During his tenure at the FBI he went back to school to pursue an accounting degree.
He was awarded that degree from the University of Maryland in 1980. A job was then offered to him at the field office of the Government Accountability Office in Dayton, OH at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. From there, his career blossomed. For 33 years, he worked with dedicated and professional colleagues from all corners of the federal government including the military. After 18 years at WPAFB, he was promoted to Assistant Director and transferred to Washington, DC.
His work in DC took him overseas to many different countries and over 100 cities. He had a passion for the defense of our nation and his work was concentrated and contributed mostly to the defense sector. He had the pleasure of meeting many dignitaries (foreign and national) from around the globe. His two career highlights were the debriefing of then-Ohio Senator and former Apollo astronaut Colonel John Glenn and, as part of his work efforts, being invited to a Christmas dinner at the White House with President George W. Bush just weeks after the terrorist attacks in 2001. Over 120 actions were made from the advice given by him and his teams which contributed to over $10 Billion in spending cuts.
His favorite cities were Augsburg, Germany and Rome, Italy. Robert was the proud and loving father of David and Paul Repasky. Robert considered himself a wine connoisseur and absolutely loved Italian reds. Kentucky bourbon was not too far behind.
Robert was predeceased by his father; Nicholas J. Repasky, Sr.; and his brother, Nicholas J. Repasky, Jr.
He is survived by his mother, Audrey M. Repasky; sons, David R. (Kimberly) Repasky and Paul J. Repasky; sisters, MaryAlice (Rick) Woytan and Cathy Luczka; sister-in-law, Kelly Repasky; his niece, Lindsey Luczka; and nephews, Andrew Luczka, Bryan and Nicholas Woytan.
