CARPENTER, Robert Riley, age 85, of Centerville, OH formerly of Kissimmee, Florida, passed away Friday, August 5, 2011.
He was a member of Kissimmee United Presbyterian Church and Lakeview United Methodist Church of Sandy Lake, PA. Robert was enlisted in the Army during WWII. He was the owner and operator of his business, Carpenter’s Smokehouse in Sandy Lake, PA. Robert was co-founder of Sandy Lake Tennis Club and part of Rotary. He also was a member of Ducks Unlimited and the Troop Committee with Boy Scouts and was president of the Lake McKeever Preservation Society. Robert loved golfing, fishing, wood working, and the great outdoors.
Preceded in death by sisters, Helen Shreve and Lois Gamble; and brother, Dr. George Carpenter. Robert is survived by his wife of 64 years Helen; sons, Tim (Carol) Carpenter of Morrisville, PA, Bill (Sandy) Carpenter of Salisbury, MD, David (Mary Ellen) Carpenter of Bellbrook, OH, and Joel (Barbie) Carpenter of Leonardtown, MD; grandchildren, Sara (Shawn Reining), Miriam, Will (Amy), Brenna, Leah, Ben (Kari), Abby, Emma, Erin, and Kelly; sister, Charlotte Schoettler; and many nieces, nephews, and Carpenter cousins.
