Robert S. Swaney

Swaney, Robert S. (Bob), age 81, of Kettering, passed away March 11, 2005 at Oak Creek Terrace Nursing home. Bob was born November 19, 1923 in Portsmouth, OH. He moved to Dayton at the age of 12. Bob was a loving husband to Betty (Bellville) Swaney for 60 years. He was class president for 3 years at Wilbur Wright and Patterson Co-op High Schools. Bob was also a past president of the East Dayton Kiwanis Club. He served in the United States Marine Corp during WWII. He was a United States Postal Clerk at the main post office in Dayton for 33 years, retiring in 1989. Bob is survived by his wife, Betty of Kettering; 3 daughters, Lynn (Jim) Miller of Springboro, Diane (Rick) Thomas of Centerville and Kim (Eric) Kahkola of Union, OH. Bob was grandfather to six grandchildren and a great-grandfather to 3 granddaughters. He was preceded in death by his two sons, Tom Swaney (1991) and Curt Swaney (1976). Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, March 15, 2005 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 6245 Wilmington Pike, Centerville with Father Tom Schmidt officiating. Burial in Calvary Cemetery. Family will receive friends Monday evening from 5-8:00 PM at the Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd., Kettering.
