Robert Stanley Kaminski

October 1, 1959 — January 16, 2017

KAMINSKI, Robert Stanley, passed away unexpectedly on January 16, 2017 in Honolulu, HI. He had just spent the Christmas holidays in Dayton with his family. It was his favorite time of year that he looked forward to starting around July of each year: He would listen to Andrea Bocelli's Christmas CD year round, in anticipation of the coming Christmas. One of six children, he was the fourth son of Stanley and Helen Kaminski, 'Cornhuskers' residing in Oakwood for the past 40+ years. Robb was a 1978 graduate of Oakwood High School, where he excelled as a student, and star athlete in basketball and golf. His work career earned him the top national sales award as a Pharmaceutical Rep for Dupont in the 1990's. His mother would quip, "Robb could sell ice to an Eskimo!" He also worked successfully in sales management for the liquidation industry. He resided in Honolulu and St. Petersburg, FL for the past 27 years. He enjoyed water sports, golf, sun & sand, the beauty of a sunset, a walk on the beach, hand-in-hand with a loved one, or a Triple Crown racehorse's running down the stretch. He was an avid and loyal fan of the Nebraska Husker's football team and Dallas Cowboy's Bob Hayes '#22', which remained his lifetime favorite number. He will be dearly missed, and his memory cherished by family and friends who had the pleasure and privilege to know him, to love him, to work or play by his side, and to experience the understanding, compassion and depth of his great care and love of family. All who treasured his friendship and brotherhood are devastated by our sudden loss in this world, but know his gentle spirit, care and love will continue with our memory of him. It is impossible to summarize the life of our beloved son, brother, uncle and friend in a few short words, and although gone from our presence far too soon, he made a positive difference in every one of our lives. Robb was preceded in death by his mother, Helen, and is survived by his father, Stanley; three brothers, Timm, Mark and Doug (Connie); two sisters, Jill (Maki) Park and Kara (James) Thomas; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Robb suffered the deep and untimely loss of three close friends, Kim Riviello, Chris Dolan, and Michelle, whom he remembered fondly each year on their anniversaries. It is a comfort to know Robb is with friends and family in his heavenly and eternal home. We trust in God's promise: 'So you also have sorrow now. But I'll see you again, and your hearts will rejoice, and no one will take your joy away from you.' John 16:22 The family will greet friends from 5:00-8:00pm on Friday, February 3, 2017 at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 East Stroop Rd., Kettering. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30am on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at Holy Angels Catholic Church, 1322 Brown Street, Dayton, OH 45409. If desired friends may make donations to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, St. Vincent de Paul or Oakwood Athletic Boosters Association.
