FARIS, Roger Cameron, age 87, of Dayton, formally of Hillsboro, OH, passed away on March 12, 2006 at Walnut Creek Nursing Center. Roger moved from Hillsboro to Dayton in 1958. He worked at Dunhill’s Clothing for many years. He was the owner of the Kettering Karry Out for 23 years. After a brief retirement, Roger started working again, this time at Meijer where he enjoyed greeting customers, some whom became friends. He had an ever-present smile, a playful nature and a love for life. Roger was a proud soldier who fought for freedom during WWII as a Sergeant for the 62nd Troop Carrier Group of the US Army Air Corp. Roger was preceded in death by his parents Roger W. Faris and Margaret (Cameron) Faris; brother, Richard E. Faris; brother-in-law, Wendell Varley and dear friend, Dick Weimer. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Pauline “Tippie” Faris; daughter, Kim E. (Faris) Weimer; son-in-law, Steve Weimer whom Roger appreciated his love and dedication to the Faris family for over 20 years; loving and cherished grandsons, Marshall Weimer and Cameron Weimer; sister-in-laws, Betty Varley and Frances Faris; nieces, Connie (Jim) Stevens and Cheryl (Bob) McClain; nephews, Tom (Marni) Faris and Steve Faris; great-nephews, Keith Stevens, Matt Faris and Steve McClain and great- nieces Toy (Stevens) Maxwell and Kristi (Faris) Fickert; plus numerous great-great nieces and nephews and loving friends, Donna & Bill Meyer, Phyllis Weimer, Leone Downs, Dorothy Moore, Sally Blommel, Wayne Avedisian and his loving neighbors on Oakwood Ave. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, March 17 at 10:00AM at St. Henry’s Catholic Church, 6666 Springboro Pike, Miami Twp., OH 45449. Roger’s family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 5-7:00PM at Routsong Funeral Home, 81 N. Main St., Centerville. Burial will be in Buford Cemetery, Buford OH following the Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 40 S. Perry St., Suite 120, Dayton, OH 45402-1429 or We Care Arts, 3035 Wilmington Pike, Dayton, OH 45429 or Walnut Creek Nursing Center Activities and Staff Appreciation Fund, 5070 Lamme Rd., Miami Twp, OH 45439.
