Roger Dale Simmons

SIMMONS, Roger D., age 54 of Beavercreek, passed away Friday, December 27, 2002 as a result of a trucking accident in West Virginia. Roger worked for Continental Express in Sidney, OH. He was previously very involved as a coach in the youth organization for East Kettering Recreation Club softball team and traveling team. Roger was an avid Nascar fan and had a love for bluegrass music. He served in the Army during the Vietnam War and received a Purple Heart. Preceded in death by his father, William Simmons and his step father, Jeff Caudill. Survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Sophia Simmons; daughter, Patricia (Michael) Dillon; grandchildren, Morgan Sophia Dillon, and Michael Anthony Dillon; mother, Ardith Caudill; sister, Sylvia Jablonsky; stepmother, Maxine Simmons; niece, Tammy (Gary) Siler, Jr.; great niece and nephew, Chelsea Baylee Siler and Nathan Kyle Siler; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Mary (Curtis ) Varney, Ronnie (Judy) Bray, Clara (Kenny) Schick, Geneva Bray, Ralph (Avis) Bray, Irene (Roscoe) Napier and Kathleen (Hoit) Vincent; special cousin, Ernie (Nancy) Stephens and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends. Funeral services will be held, Tuesday, December 31, 2002 at 10:00 AM at the Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd., Kettering, with Rev. James Dillon officiating. Burial in Mt. Zion Park Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 5 to 8:00 PM Monday evening at the funeral home. He was loved by all who knew him and will be missed more than any words can say.
