Ross "Jack" A Taylor, Jr.

TAYLOR, Jr. Ross "Jack," passed away after a brief illness at Bethany Village in Centerville on November 24, 2008. Jack was preceded in death by his loving wife, Joan Taylor. He is survived by his sister, Margaret Newman of Phoenix, Arizona; his brother, William Taylor of Dallas, Texas; his daughter, Kim Schnell and her husband Dr. Frederick Schnell of Macon, Georgia; their children, Dr. Fred Schnell and his wife, Dr. Allison Hobsgood and their daughter, Alexis of Corvallis, Oregon; Betsy Schnell Griffith and her husband, Wesley Griffith of Macon, Georgia; and David Schnell of Atlanta, Georgia; his son, Ross Taylor III and his wife Anne Taylor of Kettering, Ohio and their daughter, Jaclyn Taylor of Santa Monica, California and numerous nieces and nephews. He was an Eagle Scout and graduated from Gaston High School in Joinerville, Texas and also attended the University of Texas. Jack served in the Navy and flew reconnaissance missions over the Atlantic Ocean out of Newport, Rhode Island. Jack also served as a company commander while stationed in Iowa. He married Joan Betty Reinicke in 1946 and settled in Dayton, Ohio after the war. Jack opened Taylor Hardware in Kettering, Ohio in 1947, where he will be remembered by his many friends and customers. He was an active member of Shroyer Road Baptist Church and was responsible for the financing and construction of the Education Wing of the church. Jack and Joan enjoyed golfing and travel. The family will greet friends and relatives on Tuesday, December 16 from 10-11:00AM with a memorial service at 11:00AM at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd., Kettering.
