Ruth Arlene Kern

KERN, Ruth A. (nee Shank), age 94, formerly of Kettering, passed away on Monday, February 1, 2016. Ruth was born on February 18, 1921 in Dayton, OH to Edward and Mary Ellen Shank. She is a past member of the Alumni of Patterson Co-op High School, class of 1938. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Jack I. Kern; her parents; brother, Donald Shank; sisters, Irma Eshbaugh, Ethel Ulm, Amber McBee, and Cathryne Carder. She is survived by her son, Jack Norman Kern and his wife Carol Garrison Kern of Washington Twp.; grandson, Jack Brian Kern; great-grandson, Liam Kern; and several nieces and nephews. Family will greet friends from 11:00am-12:30pm on Saturday, February 6, 2016 at Routsong Funeral Home, 81 N. Main St., Centerville with funeral services at 12:30pm. Entombment at David's Mausoleum at a later date. The family would like to thank the staff at the Laurels of West Carrollton for all their care and compassion.
