Ruth Cope

COPE, Ruth McDaniel, age 88 of Centerville, OH passed away Saturday August 25, 2012. She was born on July 14, 1924 in Berea, Kentucky to Mattie Lee (nee) Clark and Billie McDaniel. Ruth is preceded in death by her parents; husband David Herschel Cope; son Ronald Wayne Cope; sister Myrtice McDaniel; and brother Ray McDaniel. She is survived by her son David Cope (Connie); daughters, Linda Brock (Jeff) and Barbara Schlater (Bill); her grandchildren, Jennifer Schrein (Aaron), Aaron Brock (Renee), Brian Cope, Kimberly Kennedy (Joe), and Nathan Schlater; great-grandchildren, Andrew Brock, Emily Brock, Braden Schrein, and Jameson Kennedy; and many nieces and nephews. Ruth was a wonderful wife and was devoted to her family and friends, cherishing time spent with them. She welcomed her nieces and nephews into her home, enjoyed long visits with cousins, friends and neighbors. Ruth was also an avid gardener and shared her husband's interest in genealogy. Proud of her achievements in high school, she was salutatorian of her graduating class. In addition, Ruth enjoyed her work and friendships at DeLong Lures in Centerville and was a volunteer for numerous charities including Walk for Cancer and March of Dimes. She was a selfless caregiver for many including her sister, mother-in-law and sister-in-law. Visitation will be held Thursday, August 30, 2012 from 11:00AM to 12:30PM at Routsong Funeral Home, 81 N. Main Street, Centerville, Ohio. Funeral services will begin at 12:30PM also at the funeral home with Chaplain Raul Concha. Interment will be at Woodland Cemetery. The family would like to express our thanks for the wonderful help and care given by Alisha, Angi, Taylor and Hospice of Dayton.
