Ruth Elizabeth Kerivan

age 78, of Centerville, passed away, Wednesday, July 28, 2004. She was preceded in death by her parents, Patrick and Mary Harkins; 3 sisters, Mary Palandro, Helen Prisco and Dorothy Harkins; and one grandson, Patrick Daniel Kerivan Weddell. Ruth is survived by her husband of 55 years, Donald Kerivan who lovingly cared for her during the past decade; 8 children, Richard Kerivan, David Kerivan, Lisa Kerivan, James (Terri) Kerivan, Tara (Clint) Kerivan-Weddell, Patti (John Walter) Kerivan, Don Kerivan and Mia (John) Kerivan-O’Malley. Ruth is also survived by thirteen grandchildren, Joseph, Jennifer, Spencer, Sophie, Daniel, Sean, Liam, Katherine, Daniel, Michael, Connor, Maire and Fiona. Ruth grew up in Boston where she graduated from Massachusetts General Hospital School of Nursing and worked as a surgical nurse at the Phillips House before she married. She was a graduate of the University of Dayton and Wright State University with a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s in rehabilitative counseling for the severely disabled. She was retired from the Industrial Commission of Ohio Rehabilitation Division where she worked as a rehabilitation nurse. The Kerivan family is grateful for support provided from Catholic Social Services, especially Susan Poplinski and Suzanne McMahon. Mass of Christian burial will be held Monday, August 2, at 10:00 AM at the Church of the Incarnation with Father Lawrence Mierenfeld officiating. Family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 3-6:00 PM at the Routsong Funeral Home, 81 N. Main St., Centerville. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 3797 Summit Glen Dr., Ste 100, Dayton, OH 45449.
