Ruth Louise Duke

age 88, of Kettering, died on January 25, 2005 at Walnut Creek Nursing Home. Ruth attended Christ United Methodist Church and was a member of King of Kings Lutheran Church in New Port Richey, FL. Ruth was born in Manhattan, New York City and graduated from Jamaica High School, Long Island, NY. In her early years she worked on Wall Street in New York City. She then lived in Canada for a few years before moving to Nutley, NJ where she had a retail career for 30 years. During retirement in FL, Ruth volunteered extensively at Southern Pines Nursing Home and King of Kings Lutheran Church. Ruth enjoyed traveling and visited most parts of the United States as well as Iceland, Mexico, Canada, Germany and the Caribbean. Ruth was preceded in death by her loving husband, Vincent Edward Duke to whom she was married for 53 years. She is survived by her brother, Herbert (Gertrude) Goddard and four children; Kenneth V. (Dorothy) of Nutley, NJ, Patricia R. (Richard) Williams of Rutherford, NJ, Carol A. (William) Trent of Leonardtown, MD, and Dr. Bruce E. (Dr. Janice) of Kettering, OH. Ruth was blessed with eight grandchildren; Andrew (Angela) & Gregory (Denise) Duke, Kathy (Don) Williams Frangipane, Richard (Tara) Williams, William (Cheryl) & Timothy (Aundria) McCarthy, Kelly (Richard) Duke Pollock, Dr. Rebecca (Dr.William) Duke Golgert; and 14 great-grandchildren: Tyler and Casey Duke, Robert and Nicole Duke, Heather and Holly Nearpass, Alexandra Williams, Caela & Isabella & Daniel McCarthy, Ryan & Hannah & Reid McCarthy, and Evan Pollock. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, January 28 at Christ United Methodist Church with Rev. Barry DeShetler officiating. Family will receive friends on Thursday, January 27, 2005 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd., Kettering, OH. Burial will be a private service. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be given in memory of Ruth to Christ United Methodist Church Missions Program, 3440 Shroyer Rd., Kettering, OH 45429 or Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Ave., Dayton, OH 45420.
