Ruth Young Wilson

WILSON, Ruth Young, age 92, of Kettering, passed away on Monday, March 07, 2016. She was born on March 13, 1923 in Greenville, SC to the late John and Ruth Young. Ruth graduated from Greenville High School and attended Edgewood Park College in New York where she majored in Fashion Design. After College, Ruth worked for Eastern Airlines in Greenville. She also worked for the University of Dayton at their Radio Station at WVUD after staying home for many years raising three daughters. She rose in the ranks from secretary to account executive to regional sales manager during her 17 year tenure there before retiring. Ruth was energized by working with young people and enjoyed mentoring UD students at WVUD. Ruth was a 50 year member of Fairmont Presbyterian Church where she volunteered, as well as volunteering at the Dayton Art Institute, and the American Red Cross. She was an avid gardener, bridge player and enjoyed people. Ruth was a southern belle until the day she passed. She will be dearly missed. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Carroll James Wilson; and daughter, Susan Wilson Stricker. Ruth is survived by her loving children, Kittie (Dennis) Yohe of Northbrook, IL and Sallie Wilson (Peter) Luther of Oakwood; grandchildren, Andrew (Nimisha) and Adam Stricker, Carrie and Christopher Yohe, and Christopher and Lauren Luther; and great-grandchildren, Donovan Stricker and Amelia Sue Stricker. A memorial service will be held at 11am on July 9, 2016 at Fairmont Presbyterian Church, 3705 Far Hills Ave. Kettering, OH.
