MACDONALD, Sally Street, age 89, of Dayton, died on March 11, 2017. Sally was born on March 21, 1927 in Mineola, NY to Donald MacQueen Street and Ruth Lawrence Street. Sally received her secondary education at the Convent of the Sacred Heart, 91st Street, New York City, graduating in 1944. She attended Manhattanville College of the Sacred Heart, New York City, earning a BA Degree in Mathematics and Physics in 1948. Following an interval of work at Bell Laboratories, she received her MA Degree in History from the Graduate School of Arts and Science, Columbia University in 1954. She taught for many years at Fairmont High School in Kettering. Sally was preceded in death by her parents, sons Hugh Street MacDonald and Andrew Newcomb MacDonald, and granddaughter Jessica Renee MacDonald. She is survived by Morgan B. MacDonald Jr. her husband of 66 years, son Morgan B. MacDonald III, daughter Sally Ann Steadman, seven grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, brother Donald MacQueen Street, Jr., sisters Mary Street Thorne and Elizabeth Street Vanderbilt, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to an exceptional intellect Sally was blessed with the gift of friendship and love. First and foremost she was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She devoted a large portion of her life to the raising and educating of her children and grandchildren. Her commitment to her work, passion for learning, and interest touched the lives of countless friends, students and colleagues. Her circle of friends extends from those she met in childhood to the nurses who attended her in her final days. Her correspondence was prodigious. Sally's interests included sailing, walking, gardening, travel, music and history. Among her community involvements were the teaching of night classes at Sinclair Community College, the Oakwood chapter of AFS, membership in a book club and The College Women's Club of Dayton. A memorial mass will be held at 12 noon on Thursday March 16, 2017 at St. Albert the Great Catholic Church, 3033 Far Hills Ave., Kettering. Family will receive friends following the mass at Routsong Funeral Home 2100 East Stroop Rd, Kettering. In lieu of flowers the family has asked you to please make a charitable contribution to St. Vincent DePaul or to the Dayton Food Bank.
