age 89, of Dayton, passed away, Saturday, May 31, 2003. Samuel graduated from Steele High School, Dartmouth College and the University of Michigan Law School. Samuel began his career at DP&L as an attorney and then after serving in WWII in the Pacific Front as a captain in the United States Navy began a partnership with McCray, Vradelis & McCray. He was an original member of and retired from the law firm Smith & Schnaake and continued practicing with his son and started McCray & McCray. Samuel was very passionate about his career as an attorney. Samuel loved to travel. He traveled around the world between his college and law school studies. Samuel again traveled around the world with his wife Marianna in the 1980’s. He was an avid snow skier and loved the outdoors. Samuel was a Co-Founder of Sycamore Country Golf Club. Preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Marianna; brother, Latta McCray. Survived by his son, Alfred McCray of Centerville; daughter, Mimi Michel of Denver, CO; 5 grandchildren, James Michel, Cammy Michel, Thomas Michel, Holly Couch and Nicholas McCray; 4 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday at Woodland Mausoleum, 118 Woodland Ave., Dayton with The Rev. Victoria Downing officiating. Burial in Woodland Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 5-8:00 PM, Wednesday at the Routsong Funeral Home, 6 Oakwood Ave., Oakwood. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to, charity of choice.
