Sara Mae Gibson

GIBSON, Sara Mae, age 94 of Centerville passed away on Thursday, September 20, 2012. Sara graduated from Fairview High School and beauty school. She briefly worked as a hairdresser. She then worked at Frigidaire, Delco, and Inland Mfg. She loved to garden and joined a garden club in the 60's. She also loved music and went to many big band events. She and her husband, Paul liked to go fishing and went to all the lakes around this area. They also made many trips to Florida where her brother lived. She also liked the Reds and attended many baseball games in Cincinnati, Ohio. She liked outdoor sports, especially golf. She followed Tiger Woods and other players. In her younger years, she played in volleyball tournaments and played tennis. Her mind was always alert and she kept walking until her death. She was a sweet person, and no matter where she went, everyone loved her. She died suddenly from pneumonia. Preceded in death by her parents, Leon and Grace Rowlands; husband, Paul; infant son, Glenn Lee; brothers, Mearl and Lee Rowlands; and sister-in-law, Thelma. Sara is survived by her daughter, Janis G. Gibson of Centerville; sister-in-law, Mary Rowlands, and two nieces and one nephew. Family will greet friends from 6:00-8:00pm on Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at Routsong Funeral Home, 81 N. Main Street, Centerville. Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm on Thursday, October 4, 2012 also at the funeral home. Burial to follow in Dayton Memorial Park Cemetery.
