PORTER, Scott Paul, age 67, passed away at home on Wednesday, April 20, 2016. A current and long-time resident of Kettering, OH, Scott was born in Hamilton Co., OH on January 14, 1949, to the late Walter and Patricia Higdon Porter. The oldest of two boys, Scott excelled at finding fun new ways to cause mischief. Early on, he developed a love for being outdoors and affinity for photography. He became an avid backpacker, camper, and photographer, hobbies he continued to enjoy throughout his life. After graduating from Centerville High School in 1967, Scott worked as a dental technician, later purchasing and operating his own dental lab in Kettering. He was active in the Boy Scouts of America for over a decade, serving Troop 193 and others. Scott served his community through his work with Habitat for Humanity, and as an active member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. He is a member of the Masonic Lodge #777 Huber Heights, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Antioch Shrine, subgroup Motor Core, Unity Chapter # 16, Reese Council #9 and Dayton Commandery #68. He is survived by his loving wife Carol Porter; two children, Kelly (Dean) Wilson and Ryan (Lauren) Porter; step-children, Brian (Dusty) Fyke, Tony Fyke and Chandra (Bobby) Fenton; his brother, David Porter; grandchildren, Sophia, Marion and Corbin Wilson, Mackenzie and Taylor Monnin, Olivia, Jacob, Callum and Annabelle Fyke; great-grandchildren, Myles Bledsoe and Kenley Bledsoe; cousins, Sam and Vicky Tuten and numerous other family members and friends. As a servant of his community and one who loved his family greatly, his loss will be felt by many. Services will be held at 11:00am on Monday, April 25, 2016 at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 125 N. Wilkinson St. Dayton, OH. Family will greet friends immediately following the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Westminster Presbyterian Memorial Fund, 125 N. Wilkinson St. Dayton, OH 45402 or Shriners Hospital for Children, 3229 Burnet Ave. Cincinnati, OH 45229.
