Scott Braden Weatherspoon

December 24, 1940 — March 17, 2025

Centerville

WEATHERSPOON, Scott Braden, age 84, of Centerville, OH, passed away on Monday, March 17, 2025. Scott was born on December 24, 1940, to the late Scott and Nancy Weatherspoon, in Nashville, TN. He grew up in the Nashville area and attended Vanderbilt University. It was at this time during a family trip that he unexpectedly met the love of his life, Margaret “Margo” Clodgio, at Cumberland Falls, KY. Following their marriage on September 11, 1965, the young couple moved around for a time before settling in Centerville, OH, after taking a job with General Motors (later EDS). Scott had a passion for Computer Science and enjoyed a long and successful career working with computers in many capacities until he retired in 1999.

Scott and Margaret started their family in 1969 with the birth of their son Michael. The family unit was completed with the birth of their daughter Denise in 1971. Scott’s family vacations with his wife and children to many beautiful places were highlights of his life. Scott continued the family vacations with his grandchildren and truly enjoyed his many adventures with them and sharing his second home in Gatlinburg, TN.

Scott was always up for an adventure with friends too, traveling with them around the country and the world from cruises to cross country adventures and even traveling to Jerusalem.

Friends were very important to Scott. He never met a stranger and was always willing to help anyone. His friend groups were his extended family group. Many nights were taken up with get-togethers to play games of cards or Marble Chase or just getting a bite to eat. Scott’s friend groups included his Friches’ breakfast group, a church Seekers group, a church men’s group, a lunch group he coordinated with his best friend and countless others.

Scott was an honorary TWIG member. He donated many hours helping his wife with her TWIG 16 group fundraising for Dayton Children’s Hospital.

When he was not with his friends, Scott could be found at home with Margo lovingly tending to his vegetable and flower garden, working in the yard he loved, or enjoying the day on his back screened in patio which he built to bird watch, nap, or eat a meal. You could also find him in his back porch swing listening to the birds and watching the grass grow.

Preceded in death by his mother and father; Scott Braden (“B”) and Nancy and his sister Susan Leh.

Scott is survived by his loving wife of almost 60 years, Margo Weatherspoon; Son Michael Weatherspoon and his wife, Theresa; daughter Denise Stoehr and her husband, Dave; 5 grandchildren, Anna and John Weatherspoon, Jessica, Braden and Ashlynn Stoehr, and his beloved niece Anna Leh. He was very involved in their lives and was the loudest cheerleader at sporting and theater events.

Scott’s gregarious and fun-loving character and excitement for life will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
