MAHONEY, Sharon Anne, age 75, of Fairborn, OH, formerly of New Carlisle, OH, Leesburg, FL and Indianapolis, IN, passed peacefully on June 15th, 2013. She was born in Metropolis, IL on January 12, 1938 to the late James Arthur and Ella Francis Davis. Sharon was a 1956 graduate of Ben Davis High School, Indianapolis and maintained lifelong friendships with classmates.
She was incredibly talented in many areas of the arts and created beautiful oils, pastels and whimsical acrylic paintings. Over the years, her artistic abilities were displayed on the heads of many in her chosen profession as a hair stylist. Additionally, she collected chicken and frog figurines and maintained the largest displayed collection of jeweled pins in the City of Fairborn.
Sharon will rest at Woodland Arboretum's Lookout Point, the highest point in the city, which overlooks hundreds of landscaped acres and is a favorite vista for local artists. Generations of painters will capture the beauty of the rolling landscape under her supervision and the sun will eternally shine on her face.
Sharon is preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Mahoney and sister, Evelyn Kay (nee Davis) Norris. She is survived by daughters, Robyn L. Beck, Kim E. (Dave) Prater and Trisha M. von Strohe; grandchildren, Sarah E. Peters and Matthew C. (Stephanie) Prater; great-granddaughters, Lily and Rylee Prater; and brother, James "Sonny" Davis. The family would like to thank Kim and Dave Prater, the many caregivers, neighbors and The Summit staff whose relentless care and determination created many months of cherished memories.
