Shirley H. Doty

age 78, passed away Tuesday, October 19, 2004 while conducting a AAA tour to Covington, KY. Survived by son, Douglas and his wife, Deborah and their two children, Olivia and Megan of Mancos, CO; son, Michael and his partner, Fernando of Plano, TX; daughter, Susan and her husband, Steven Carlson, and their children, Scott, Alana, and Henry of St. Charles, IL. Also brother, Paul H. Hensley and wife, Dorris of Germantown, OH and numerous nieces and nephews. She was a part-time employee of AAA Miami Valley, as a tour escort; a volunteer at Kettering Memorial Hospital and active in Kettering Sister Cities, a volunteer usher for the performing Arts (Fraze, Schuster and Victoria Association). She was an active member of Christ United Methodist Church for over 48 years. She was a graduate of Fairview High School, Class of 1944. She was active in the Experiment in International Living, Dayton Council of World Affairs and the AFS Student Exchange programs. She leaves many friends in other countries. Of special note is Rainer Hofmann of Aachen, Germany, who lived with the Dotys through the AFS program, and who with his wife, Behnoush, remains a very close friend of the family. Memorial services will be held Saturday, October 23 at 10:30 AM at Christ United Methodist Church, 3440 Shroyer Rd., Kettering with Rev. Botkin officiating. Burial in Glen Haven Cemetery, New Carlisle. Family will receive friends Friday, October 22, from 5-8:00 PM at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd., Kettering. In memory of Shirley, in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Christ United Methodist Church, 3440 Shroyer Rd., Kettering, OH 45429.
