Steven E. Ball

BALL, Steven E., age 65, of Dayton, joined his son Eric at their favorite fishing hole on November 20, 2024. 

Steven was born in Okinawa, Japan on May 27, 1959 to the late Byron J. and Donna I. (Tuttle) Ball. He graduated from Bellefontaine High School in 1977 and pursued a career in the Tool and Die industry. Steven loved his work, proudly laboring as a machinist for over 40 years. In his free time, he could be found trap shooting or woodworking. Steven was a history buff, harboring a vast knowledge of planes and war trivia. He was a kind and patient man who loved with his whole heart. His family was everything to him, and he cherished every moment spent with them. Steven was a proud American who was honored to have two grandsons serving in the military. He was deeply rooted in his faith and served as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints since 1987. Steven was a gentle soul who will be missed by all who knew and loved him. 

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Eric Ball; and two brothers, Greg and Byron, Jr. Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Margaret “Peggy” Ball. They enjoyed 45 years of marriage and 50 years together. He is also survived by his son, Matthew (Adrienne) Ball of Clinton, UT; daughter, Katie (Doyle) Robinson of Beavercreek, OH; daughter-in-law, Michelle Ball, of Kettering; grandchildren, Loren, Margaret, Parker, Trenton, Sean, Eric II, Ethan, Drake, Sage, Hunter (Kamari), Austin, Ryleigh, and Zaydyn; several in-laws, nieces, and nephews; sister, Susan of Bellefontaine; and beloved dog Boo Boo. 

Family will greet friends Monday, November 25 from 5:00pm-8:00pm at Routsong Funeral Home, 81 N. Main St., Centerville. Funeral Services will be held at 11:30am Tuesday, November 26 at the funeral home. Steven will be laid to rest in David’s Cemetery. 

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Miami Valley Hospital ICU Unit and Hospice of Dayton for their excellent care of Steven, and to his dear friend, Dave Harrison, who was always by his side.
