Suzanne L. Columbus

COLUMBUS, Suzanne L., age 69, of Kettering, Ohio, died September 22, 2015. She graduated from Magnificat High School in Rocky River, Ohio, in 1964. From the University of Dayton, she received a B.S. in education in 1968, a B.S. in medical technology in 1978 and an M.S. in biology in 1985. She taught elementary school before pursuing a career in clinical laboratory science. At her retirement, she served as the clinical laboratory manager at Kettering Hospital. She previously served as director of schools of medical technology at Kettering Hospital and the University of Dayton. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend of many. She enjoyed meals with those she loved and spending vacations with them in Hilton Head, enjoying the beach to the sounds of Jimmy Buffet. She loved the warmth of the summer sun and hated the gloom of winter but embraced Thanksgiving, Christmas and other holidays with family and friends. She always put the interest of others before herself. She was preceded in death by her parents, Loretta and Harry Taylor, and her youngest child, Ben. She is survived by her husband, Tom; children Elizabeth and her husband, Tony, and Michael and his wife, Jennifer; grandchildren Megan, Molly, Caroline and Cooper; and Fred and Maureen (Suzanne's longtime "sister") Willits. Family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, September 24, at the Routsong Funeral Home, 81 North Main St., Centerville, Ohio. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 a.m., Friday, September 25, at St. Charles Borromeo Church in Kettering. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery.
