Suzanne Marie Wagner-Schmidt

SCHMIDT (Wagner), Suzanne M., age 84 of Centerville, passed away on Tuesday, October 4, 2011. Sue was born and raised in Dayton and was a 1945 graduate of Julienne High School. She received her Bachelors of Education degree from the University of Dayton in 1949, where she met and married Robert J. Wagner. Sue was a lifelong supporter of UD and an avid Flyers fan. Sue and Bob had six children and began the Robert J. Wagner Insurance Agency. She also worked as a teacher in the Dayton Public Schools. Sue loved raising her children and working with her charities. She was an active member of St. Albert the Great Church, a member of the Golden Flyers Club, holding a chairman position from 2002-2004 and a lifetime member of Womanline, Inc., where she volunteered for 25 years. Sue retired from Genworth Insurance Agency where she worked as a Long Term Care Specialist. After Robert’s death in 1990, while attending a UD class reunion, she renewed her friendship with classmate Jerry Schmidt, and they were married on Oct 4, 1991. In their 20 years together, Sue enjoyed accompanying Jerry, a member of the 'Hauer Music Swing Band', to all their gigs. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Margaret Argast; husband, Robert J. Wagner; sisters, Jean Madden, Mary Little and son Daniel F. Wagner. Sue is survived by her husband Jerry Schmidt; brother-in-law, Bill Little; children, Robert Jr. (Anita) Wagner of Kettering, William (Terry) Wagner of Little Rock, AR, Lawrence Wagner of Tampa, FL, Annette Wagner of Kettering, Michelle Wagner of Dayton; daughter-in-law, Jennifer Wagner-Lund of Minnetrista MN; grandchildren, Justin, Andrew, Jennifer, Madeline, Zachary, Samuel, Ellie, Eric, Lyndsey, Cortney, Kara, John, Megan, Christine, Alec, Melissa and Lacey; and also many step-children, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00pm on Sunday, October 9, 2011 at ROUTSONG FUNERAL HOME, 2100 E. Stroop Rd., Kettering. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 noon on Monday, October 10th at St. Albert the Great Church, 3033 Far Hills Ave., Kettering. Burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery.
