Taeko Huntsberger

HUNTSBERGER, Taeko "Ty", age 80 of Aurora, Ohio passed away on Sunday, February 24, 2008 at the Cleveland Clinic. She was a 50 year resident of Oakwood, Ohio. Ty was born and raised in Tokyo, Japan and graduated from Tokyo Women's School. She worked for the U.S. Air Force personnel office in Tokyo where she met her husband John "Jack" Huntsberger. She was a seamstress for Elder Beerman and then worked for 17 years as the History Department secretary at the University of Dayton until her retirement. Ty was a member of the Japanese American Citizens League (JACL) for 45 years. Ty, an accomplished Koto player enjoyed traveling and cooking various Japanese foods. She enjoyed attending University of Dayton football and basketball games. She loved Broadway plays, concerts, sewing, playing cards, making Japanese crafts, and spending time with her precious granddaughters. Ty is survived by her husband of 52 years, Jack Huntsberger; daughter, Kathy (Paul) Schiffer of Aurora, OH; granddaughters, Kelsey and Kara Schiffer; sister, Yuko (Masahiko) Kosako of Tokyo, Japan; nephew, Takeo (Asahi) Kosako and their children Masato and Hiroyo of Tokyo, Japan and niece, Akiko (Bruce) Galloway and their daughter, Katarina of Los Angeles. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, February 29, 2008 at Holy Angels Catholic Church, 218 K St., Dayton at 10:00 AM. Family will receive friends from 5-8:00 PM on Thursday, February 28, 2008 at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd., Kettering. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to charity of choice.
