Ted Oliver Kilmer

Kilmer, Ted O., age 77, passed away on Friday, May 17, 2013. He was preceded in death by his wife Susan, in 1999, his beloved grandmother Bessie Oliver, and his parents John and Ida Kilmer. Ted is survived by two children, Mary Beth McBride of Centerville and Matthew Kilmer of Columbus; two grandchildren, Megan and Sean McBride of Centerville; brother, Tom of California and two nieces in Texas. He was a graduate of Brookville High School and Co-Valedictorian of the class of 1954. Ted also earned college degrees from The Ohio State University, University of Dayton and attended Wright State University for various state certificates and went through the Doctorial Program in Education at Miami University. He was employed in Education for 33 years, spending 29 in the Kettering City Schools. Ted was a Mason, a member of The Dayton Exchange Club, a member of the Little Traverse Conservancy for the Preservation of land in Northern Michigan and was associated with The Great Lakes Lighthouse Keepers Association in Mackinaw City, Michigan. His favorite pastimes were bowling, golf and bridge. The family will receive friends at Routsong Funeral Home at 2100 E. Stroop Rd., Kettering, OH 45429 on Thursday, May 23, 2013 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm with private family services at a later date. Interment will be at David's Cemetery, 4600 Mad River Rd., Kettering, OH 45429. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Little Traverse Conservancy, 3264 Powell Rd. Harbor Springs, Michigan 49740.
