MURPHY Jr., Theodore E. “Ted”, age 73, of Dayton, OH passed away suddenly on Tuesday, March 4, 2025. Ted was born on February 7, 1952 to the late Theodore Sr. and Shirley Ann (Howard) Murphy. He graduated from Kettering Fairmont East High School and earned his B.A. in Music at Marycrest College, in Davenport, IA, in 1973. He began his long career in education in the Quad Cities area of Iowa. Ted continued his higher education at Wright State University earning his Masters in Education after returning to the Dayton area where he finished his career with the Dayton Public School system. During his 40+ year career in education Ted was very active with the Dayton Education Association. He retired in 2015.

Ted had numerous interests but above all his life’s passion was being an avid Cincinnati Reds and MLB fanatic, he enjoyed all sports also including The Ohio State University, Bengals and more. He collected sports memorabilia his whole life buying, trading and collecting locally and regionally. Ted’s second passion was music, having played in bands since his teens. He toured regionally for many years with his band BSharp, and played in venues with nationally famous acts. Ted was very compassionate about animals, especially cats, having a house-hold full of them as various times. He was also an active Mason for decades, he was a member of the Dayton lodge, St. Johns #13 and sang for years in the Scottish Rite Choir which he loved during all the holiday performances.

Ted is survived by his brother, Tim Murphy (Dana), his niece and nephew, Taylor (Dan) Cline and Evan (Heather) Murphy and three great-nephews, Carter and Conrad Cline and Miles Murphy. Ted was still close with his former wife Kathy Klean, whom he appreciated her support and insights over the years and his two step-daughters, Cassandra Setty, whom he still held a very special bond and Krista Schmick.
