CARLSON, Thomas Jeffrey, age 71, of Dayton, passed away on Sunday, July 30, 2023. Tom grew up in Centerville and graduated from Centerville High School in 1970. He lived most of his life in the Miami Valley, with hiatuses to Bowling Green for college and later to Texas for work opportunities. Tom retired from a long-time career in community outreach and turned towards his favorite hobby, golf. A long-time member of Miami Valley Golf Club, Tom loved to hit the links. In 2005, he married his wife, Grace, and was a devoted and loving husband. He was her rock through overseas deployment and military life, and served his country as a proud Air Force spouse. They lived happily in Oakwood with their beloved black labs, first Bridget and then Sully.
Preceded in death by his parents, Ray and “Billie” (Ruth) Carlson, Tom is survived by his wife of 18 years, Grace, and his older brother, Craig. Tom valued and often sought Craig’s practical wisdom and common sense advice. A kindhearted person,Tom had many friends, some of them lifelong, and from all walks of life. He enjoyed being with people, and extended himself to help those in need. Loveable and charming, he attracted the kindness and care of others. He was, and is, dearly loved by many. We will miss him.
