Thomas E. Becker

Age 81 of Kettering passed away January 30, 2007. Born January 26, 1926 in Dayton, OH, Tom served his country as an Air Force Armorer Gunner in WW II and was decorated with the Victory Medal. He attended Chaminade and Fairview HS, and graduated with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from The Milwaukee, WI School of Engineering in 1951. Tom married Marianne Schuppener in 1950 and raised a family with her in Dayton, OH. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Adam and Della (Swope) Becker. For 56 years, Tom was Chairman of the Board of the Becker Electric Supply Company founded by his father, John A. Becker in 1920. Also a member of the Trailsend Club as well as Dayton Country Club. Tom performed a lifetime of service for prominent business organizations in his beloved home town of Dayton. He held board positions, chairmanship positions and memberships in organizations including The Electric Club of Dayton, Home Builders Assoc., Miami Valley Hospital Foundation Trustees, Dayton Rotary Club, Junior Achievement, and performed volunteer work for the Miami Valley Literacy Council. He served two terms on the Board of Governors for National Assoc. of Electrical Distributors. Tom is survived by his loving sister Barbara White Neff, four children, daughters Catherine (Dan) Carter of Scottsdale, AZ, Dianne Becker of Cincinnati, OH, sons Thomas J. (Ann) Becker, of Dayton, OH and James R. (Paula) Becker, of Columbus, OH, was adored and will be dearly missed by his nine grandchildren, Richard Walker, Carrie Walker, Erin Harbaugh, John Harbaugh, Lindsay Becker, Clark Becker, Alissa Becker, Kaela Becker and Taylor Becker. The family will receive friends Friday, February 2, 2007 from 4-8:00 PM at the Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E Stroop Rd., Kettering. A Mass of Christian Burial at St. Charles Borromeo Church will be held on Saturday, February 3rd at 12:00 noon with Father Gerald Haemmerle officiating, followed by procession to Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Tom’s memory may be made to The Miami Valley Hospital Foundation, 31 Wyoming St., Dayton, OH 45409.
