Thomas Joseph Mlinac

June 3, 1943 — March 19, 2010

MLINAC, Thomas Joseph, age 66, of Kettering, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday, March 19, 2010 at Hospice of Dayton. Tom was born in Cleveland, Ohio on June 3, 1943 to the late Ann (Duale) and Andrew Mlinac Sr.. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 43 years Carolyn (Bohnert) Mlinac; and sister Dorothy Mlinac. He is survived by his daughters Denise Marie (Lt. Col. Christopher) Miller of Las Cruces, NM; Jill Elizabeth (William) Krause of Springboro, OH.; grandchildren Alexander, Benjamin and Emily Miller and Cameron Krause; brothers Andrew (Noree) Mlinac of S. Euclid, OH., and James (Norma) Mlinac of Mayfield Village, OH.; nieces and nephew and many loving caring friends. Tom was recruited by the University of Dayton on a full football scholarship where he received his bachelor's degree in 1965. While at UD, Tom was the co-captain of the team and was the recipient of the prestigious Lt. Andy Zulli award his senior year which is considered one of the highest honors in the program. It is awarded to the player that shows outstanding character, sportsmanship, and leadership on and off the field. Tom earned his Master of Business Administration from Xavier University in 1973. He worked for the Mazer Corporation as VP of Human Resources for over 30 years. He was an active member of St. Francis of Assisi parish and most recently chaired a committee honoring the history and heritage of the church. Tom and his wife were also members of the Charlie Brown support group at Hospice of Dayton. He was a loving, kind, strong yet gentle man with a wonderful smile! Tom brought joy to everyone he knew. Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, March 27, 2010 at 11:00am at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 6245 Wilmington Pike, Centerville with Fr. Tom Schmidt presiding. Family will receive friends on Friday, March 26 from 5:00-8:00PM at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd., Kettering, as well as 10:00-11:00AM at the church prior to the funeral mass.
