Thomas R. Leist

LEIST, Thomas Richard, age 88, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 20th, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. Tom was born to the late James B. and Faye "Peg" (nee Yaple) Leist, on January 4, 1928 in Washington Courthouse, OH. He graduated from Chaminade H.S. in 1945 and was a proud graduate of the University of Dayton. Tom served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII. He worked for American Sales, NCR and was the founder of Ad Products of Dayton in 1973. Tom was caring, kind, honest and funny. He had a wonderful sense of humor, worked hard all his life and was very enterprising at a very young age. Tom and Jeanne skied, played tennis; traveled to Europe many times, and tried not to miss out on anything. He retired from Ad Pro at the age of 70 in 1998.Tom volunteered at St. Vincent De Paul, U.D., the German Festival and the Art Institute. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, James B. Leist, Jr. and son-in-law, David Petricola. Tom is survived by Jeanne his loving wife of 65 years; children, Polly Petricola, Julie (Steve) Harris, Tom (Julie) Leist, Jr., Jenny Kinsey and Tim Leist; grandchildren, Ann (Joel Baranick) Petricola, Catherine, Kristen and Holly Leist, Austin and Cameron Kinsey and A.J. Harris; great-grandchildren, Josephine and Madeline Baranick and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the staff of Hospice of Dayton for all the compassionate care they gave to Tom. Family will greet friends from 4:00-7:00pm on Friday, January 22, 2016 at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd. Kettering, OH. A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00am on Saturday, January 23rd 2016 at St. Albert the Great Catholic Church, 3033 Far Hills Ave. Kettering, OH.
