Thomas Rife

RIFE, Thomas, age 85, of Miamisburg, passed away on Friday, September 26, 2014. He was born on July 30, 1929 in Dayton to the late MC and Elizabeth Rife. Tom joined his dad's business, the William Rife Jewelry Company, in early 1950 working six days a week at the store and repairing watches at home. Tom inherited a strong work ethic from his father. He trained as a watchmaker and studied with the Frank Fogler Institute in Cincinnati. Tom worked for more than fifty years as a skilled watchmaker. He was a member of Hope United Methodist Church as well as the Lion's Club and the Oakwood Fur, Fin and Feather club for many years. Tom is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Ada Isenhart; children, Sheryl (Bob) Merker, David Rife, and Chris (Mike) Depew; grandchildren, Carrie (Shawn) Wolfe, Erin (Curtis) Todd, Nicole (Ryan) Johnson, Corey (Maria) Rife, Conrad Rife, Jenny (Chris) Howard, Adam Depew and Katie Depew; great-grandchildren, Owen, Aubrey, Cole, Zachary, Evan, Samantha, Saige, Gabby, Jackson and Jase; and sister, Nancy Aller. The family will greet friends from 4:00-7:00pm on Monday, September 29, 2014 at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 East Stroop Rd., Kettering. A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, September 30, 2014 also at the funeral home. Burial will follow at David's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Ave., Dayton, OH 45420. The family would like to thank the staff at Sycamore Glen, Green Oaks, Hospice of Dayton, and Hearts on Call for all their care and compassion.
