Timothy Pierce Ahern

AHERN, Timothy Pierce, age 67, of Kettering, passed away on September 5, 2019. Timothy was born to William E. and Elizabeth I. (Smith) Ahern in Urbana, OH on July 9, 1952.

He graduated from Fairmont East in 1970 and attended The Ohio State University. He worked as a manager for National Amusements Cinemas and other Dayton theaters for forty plus years and was loved by all of his employees.

Timothy’s personality was larger than life. He never met a stranger and enjoyed talking to any and every one. Timothy lived for everything OSU; the marching band, fan comradery, was a long-time football season ticket holder and a member of the Buckeye Club. He loved Reds baseball almost as much and attended nearly fifty games in one season with his best friend, Lori Smith. His passion for sports and love of movies was evident if you talked with him. Timothy enjoyed collecting movie posters, new and old.

In 1983, he was appointed to sit on Ohio’s first Gay & Lesbian Task Force by Governor Celeste. He was very involved with the charities To Care Is To Cure and Dancing for Tomorrow and raised over $380,000 for AIDS research.

Timothy was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Val. He is survived by his brother, Tracy; sister-in-law, Terry; nieces and nephews, Stacy Ahern, Jess (Cindy) Ahern, Brittany (Jason) Alvey-Carter, Ryan Alvey, Jason (Jessie) Alvey, Eric (Angela) Alvey, and his fur baby, Brutus.

Funeral Service will take place at 4pm on Thursday, September 12 at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E Stroop Rd, Kettering with a visitation to follow immediately after.
