age 80, husband, father, grandfather and businessman, died September 23, 2003 after a long illness. Born in Mercer County, Ohio, he served with distinction in the Navy Quartermaster Corps. during World War II after attending Stivers High School. A veteran of five decades in the insurance industry, Mr. Borgert was recognized as National Sales Leader for Monumental Life Insurance Co. in 1953. He served many years as general agent for Columbus Mutual Life and co-founded Borgert Insurance, Inc.. He retired in 1988. Mr. Borgert was actively involved in the early years of Alter High School and its Athletic Association. Survivors include his devoted wife of 57 years, Frances Mae Borgert; 6 children: daughters and spouses, Valerie and David Senkowski of Centerville; Joan and Richard Rammel, and Beth and John Yablonski, all of Columbus; sons and spouses, Randall and Karen Borgert, Matthew Borgert, all of Centerville; and Nicholas and Christine Borgert of Charlotte, NC; 12 grandchildren. Mr. Borgert is also survived by his sister, Rosemary Bittner of Huber Heights; and 2 brothers, Cyril Borgert of Beavercreek and Ted Borgert of Dayton. He was preceded in death by grandson, Curt Rammel and sisters, Regina Ewald and Rita Bonbright. Those who called him Dad were blessed by Val’s commitment to his family, sense of optimism, unwavering support in good and difficult times, his strong faith in God and the generosity of his spirit. The family will welcome friends on Friday, Sept. 26, 4-8:00 PM at Routsong Funeral Home, 81 N. Main St., Centerville. Father Michael Holloran will celebrate a mass of Christian burial on Saturday, Sept. 27, 10:00 AM, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, corner of Xenia Ave. and Allen St., Dayton, where Mr. Borgert served as an altar boy in his youth and where he married Fran. Special thanks to the management and staff of Walnut Creek Nursing Center for their thoughtful care of our father and our family.
