Vendrell L. Spargur

SPARGUR, Vendrell L. "Ven", age 91, passed away Wednesday December 17, 2008. Ven is preceded in death by his wife Marcia C. (Cornwell) Spargur in 1999.Ven is a Veteran of WW II, having served in the US Army as a Major and later as a LTC in the reserves. His military service was in anti-aircraft artillery in the Panama Canal Zone where he met Marcia. Ven graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1935, received a BS degree from Wilmington College in 1947 and his MEd from Ohio State in 1952. He taught Social Sciences and math for over 30 years at Oakwood High School and retired in 1976. Since retirement he was active with The Ohio Historical Society, amateur archeology, woodworking and family genealogy. Ven is survived by two sons: Richard (Virginia) Spargur of Dayton and Thomas Spargur of Bellbrook, OH; granddaughter Sarah Spargur of Bellbrook. The family will receive friends 3 to 5 PM Friday, Dec. 19, 2008 at the Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd., Kettering.
