age 93, of Surprise, AZ, passed away, Sunday, December 1, 2002. She was born in Cooke Co., TX as one of seven girls. Vera served in the Women's Army Corps from February 1942 through October 1945. She had a very successful career with Rike-Kumler Company as executive secretery to Mr. David Rike, retiring at the age of 73. Vera was very active in her support of the University of Dayton. She bought a home near campus and provided housing for female students for many years. Vera moved to Phoenix in 1989 to help her sister Iris. She had no children although she had 6 nieces and nephews she called 'family'. Vera was a very independent, loving person who always could laugh at life. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, traveling and also painted very well. Vera will be missed by all who knew her. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, December 7, at the Routsong Funeral Home, 6 Oakwood Ave. Dayton. Burial in Calvary cemetery. Family will greet friends one hour prior to the service.
