Vincent Arnold

ARNOLD, Vincent L., age 90 of Kettering, passed away on Tuesday, August 22, 2006 at the Kettering Medical Center. Vincent attended Barberton High School, graduated from Otterbein College in 1938 and later received his Master’s Degree in Education from Miami University in Ohio in 1961. He was a past member and trustee for the Kettering Church of the Cross. Vincent served the Kettering school community with distinction for 33 years as a teacher, coach and administrator. He positively impacted the lives of thousands of students. He will be remembered for his love of coaching basketball. In 2000, he was inducted as a charter member of the Fairmont Athletic Hall of Fame. His hobbies included fishing, golf, horsemanship and following the North Carolina Tar Heels basketball team. Vincent was the owner of Woodman Lanes from its inception in 1959 until it was sold to Poelking Lanes in 1986. He served on the original charter commission to form the City of Kettering in the 1950’s. Vincent was preceded in death by his parents, Blake and Varie Arnold; sister, Geraldine Arnold; brother, Virgil Arnold. He is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 26 years, Peggy Arnold. She has been by Vincent’s side as a loyal and loving partner. Vincent is also survived by his children, Lois Arnold, Carol (Terry) Mickey, Jane (Jeffrey) Olson, Terry (Deborah) Arnold, Matthew Arnold, Rick and Randy Noxon, Rhonda (John) Schulte and Jim (Paulette) Noxon; sister, Lois (Marvin) Wagner; 23 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and close friend and former basketball player, Leland “Junior” Norris. In addition to all of Vincent’s achievements, he was most proud of his loving relationship with his devoted wife, Peggy and of his children and grandchildren and all of their accomplishments. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 26, 2006 at 1:30 PM at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd., Kettering. Family will receive friends on Friday, August 25, 2006 from 5-8:00 PM at the funeral home.
