Virginia Lee Thompson

THOMPSON, Virginia L. age 85, of Oakwood, passed away on Friday, December 21, 2018. Virginia was born on June 11, 1933 in South Bend, Indiana, to Thomas and Lela Helpingstine. Virginia and her husband, Lyle, were the founders of Vork Motor Transport, where she served as Vice President and CFO. She was a past member of David's Church. Virginia was a member of DAR, Daniel Cooper Chapter; Colonial Dames, Concord Chapter; the Society of Mayflower Descendants of Ohio, and the William Brewster Society, as well as a member of the Dayton Women’s Club. Virginia is preceded in death by her parents; husband of 62 years, Lyle V. Thompson; son, Lyle Thomas Thompson; and sisters, Helen Buck and Betty Ann Casper. She is survived by daughters, Mary (Douglas) Parrish of Florida and Anne Thompson of Dayton; grandchildren, Carolyn Parrish, Steve (Emilie) Parrish, Grant Pepper, and Lauren Pepper; great-grandchildren, Sophia Parrish and Avery Weiss; and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 11:30 am on Saturday, December 29, 2018 at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 East Stroop Rd., Kettering. The family will greet friends following the service until 3:00 pm. The family would like to thank Hospice of Dayton for their exceptional compassion and care.
