Walter Eugene Johnson

JOHNSON, Walter E. (Gene), age 93, passed away on Thursday, February 22, 2018. Gene was born May 24, 1924 in Marion, OH to Walter and Mae Magdeline (Fetter) Johnson. He was employed by Anaconda for 22 years and also worked for Foster-Forbes, and Essex Paranite. Gene was a volunteer for the Mill Township Fire Dept. for 23 years. He taught line dancing with his wife, Shirley. Together they square danced with the group Dixie Stars. Gene enjoyed cruises, traveling, and going to square dancing conventions. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Mary L. Baldauf. Gene is survived by his wife, Shirley K. (McCallum); daughters, Anne (Dr. Richard Gregg) Johnson of Dayton, OH, Dr. Rebecca (Dr. William Destler) Johnson of Rochester, NY; grandchildren, Walter & Nathan Destler, Helen & Katherine Gregg; sister, Patricia (Don) Carey of Marion, OH. Services will be held at 4:00PM, Sunday, March 4, 2018 at Routsong Funeral Home, 81 N. Main St., Centerville, OH. Family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
