KREMER, Walter (Walt), age 89, passed away peacefully on the 15th of October, 2011 surrounded by his loving family.
Walt was born in Maria Stein, Ohio and raised on his family's farm on Kremer Road. He attended school in Maria Stein and graduated in 1940. Shortly afterwards, he married Rita Koester of Minster Ohio. Walt proudly served his country in the US Navy on the USS Collingsworth during WWII. For many years, Walt and his wife Rita traveled extensively to attend reunions with his former shipmates and friends.
Walt moved his family to Dayton, Ohio and worked in the insurance business before founding the Walt Kremer Insurance Agency Inc in 1957. The Agency is now in the 3rd generation of the Kremer family, managed by his grandchildren Scott Kremer and Michelle Kremer Hudson. Walt was a long time member & usher at St. Charles Catholic Church and a board member of the American Paralysis Association.
He was an avid bowler at the Belmont Bowling Lanes in the Walt Kremer League for over 30 years. He was also a long time fan of the University of Dayton Flyers, a deer hunter and loved attending auctions with Tom Scharrer and their friends.
Walt was preceded in death by his parents John D. & Agnes (Menker) Kremer, brothers & sisters Roman, Edward, Lawrence, Cornelius, Sylvester, Clara Balster, Herbert, Werner, Ivo, Otto, Elsie Will, Dorothy Winner, and Lewis. He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years Rita (Koester) and children Dale of Beavercreek, Russ & Vicki of Las Vegas, Gary & Judy of Fairborn, Judy & Doug Tompkins of Centerville, Debbie of Springboro, Doug & Ann of Beavercreek, 14 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren & 3 great-great grandchildren, brothers Alfred & Raymond and sister Emily Minch.
Family will receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00 pm on Thursday, October 20, 2011 at ROUTSONG FUNERAL HOME, 2100 E Stroop Rd., Kettering, OH. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30am on Friday, October 21, 2011 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 4500 Ackerman Blvd., Kettering. Interment at David's Cemetery.
