Walter ''Walt'' Ireland

age 81, of Dayton, passed away Monday, Sept. 24, 2001 at Hospice of Dayton. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of WW II. Walt was a graduate of The Ohio State University, a life long Buckeye fan and enthusiast and an avid golfer. Walt was a charter member and past president of the Kettering - Oakwood Exchange Club, managed Little League Teams for the Patterson Park Little League and was involved in various ways with the Dayton Y.M.C.A. for many years. Preceded in death by his mother, Florence Ireland and brother, Robert. Survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Carolyn; 2 sons, Bob Ireland of Dayton and Steve and his wife, Betsy Ireland, of Hilliard OH; 2 grandsons, Christopher and Jeffrey Ireland; brother in law and sister-in-law, Dave and Becky Carr of Holland OH; 2 nieces and 1 nephew; and a ''favorite aunt'', Ruby Deifendeifer, of Lima OH. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Thursday, in Routsong Funeral Home, 6 Oakwood Ave. at Irving, Oakwood, with the Rev. Eric McGlade officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 - 8:00 P.M., Wednesday, in the funeral home. Burial will be in David's Cemetery, Kettering.
