William "Bill" Arthur Meyer

April 5, 1941 — March 3, 2025

Miamisburg

William “Bill” Meyer, age 83, of Dayton, Ohio, passed away peacefully with family by his side on March 3, 2025, at Ohio’s Hospice of Dayton. Bill lived a full life, filled with love, laughter, and countless memories that will be cherished by all who knew him. Born to Alberta (Kronenberger) and Bernard Meyer, he was a proud graduate of Chaminade Catholic High School, Class of 1960.

Bill began working at Staubles Pretzels on Xenia Avenue, Blommel Sign, and Kirk & Blum. Bill then dedicated many years to his career, retiring from Harrison Radiator as a skilled trade sheet metal worker in 1997. He was a member of the Masons, AASR Valley of Dayton, and the Miamisburg Moose Lodge.

Bill’s hobbies painted a picture of a man who truly embraced life. He loved fishing on the Mississippi River in Minnesota, playing cards with family, woodworking, metal crafting, coin collecting, and especially Fantasy Football. Bill devoted many hours to constructing a “she shed” for his wife.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his cherished wife of 45 years, Macqueline J. Meyer; brothers John and Joseph Meyer; grandchildren Christopher Meyer Jr., Nicole Meyer, and Zachary Crouch; mother and father-in-law, Cecelia “Sis” and Wilbur “Si” Seidenstricker; and beloved Shelties, Shep, Sparky, and Sonny. He is survived by his son, Chris Meyer (Lisa); his daughter Joan (Meyer) Ooten; step-children, Cindy Myers, Pegie Crouch (Bud), and Ron Shumard (Mickie); and former wife and friend, Mary Seidenstricker Meyer. Bill’s legacy continues with his many grandchildren, including Michael Ooten (Amanda), Andrew Ooten (Mindy); granddaughter in-law Christy Adkins Meyer; and step-grandchildren, Macqueline Meredith (John), Joshua Crouch (Ashley), Jeremy Crouch, Stephen Crouch, Riley Shumard and Ross Shumard among others, along with his great-grandchildren Adilene, Violet, Elijah, Gracelynn, Bentley, Israel, Emmaus, Gabriel, Eli, Cecelia, Emma, Jackson; step great-grandchildren, Harper, Berkleigh, and many others who will remember him fondly. His sister Elizabeth (Meyer) Byerly; niece, Jennifer Byerly Grusenmeyer; and nephews, Greg, David, and Michael Byerly also survive him, as well as long-time friend, Paul Grice. Bill will be remembered for his warmth, quick wit, and the kindness he showed to everyone he met.

Family and friends will gather to honor Bill’s life on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, during visitation from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at Routsong Funeral Home, 81 North Main Street, Centerville, OH 45459. A funeral service will take place on Thursday, March 13, 2025, at 11:00 AM at St. Henry Church, located at 6696 Springboro Pike, Dayton, OH 45449. Following the service, he will be laid to rest at Miami Valley Memory Gardens, 1639 East Lytle-Five Points Road, Centerville, OH 45458.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the ASPCA, the Humane Society of Greater Dayton, or Ohio’s Hospice of Dayton—places that reflect Bill’s compassionate spirit.

Bill’s love will continue to shine through those he leaves behind, and he will be deeply missed by all.
