CARPENTER, William Dillard “Bill”, age 95, of Kettering, OH, passed away on Monday, February 17, 2025. Bill was born to the late William F. and Lula Carpenter on December 1, 1929, in McKee, KY. Throughout his life, Bill was a hard worker, even starting his first full-time job at the age of 14 to support his family. In 1951, he married Faye Foreman before moving to the Dayton area to seek more opportunities. After working at various contracting companies locally, he and Faye founded their own excavating company, Carpenter’s Excavating, in 1968, which is still in business to this day. In 1993, Bill retired but he still kept close-by to maintain the properties “park like” appearance. He and Faye spent many winters together at their home in New Port Richey, FL, where they especially loved taking the grandkids to the beach. Bill loved being a husband. He adored Faye and lived out the promise of loving one another “in sickness and in health” to its full measure. His love for her was immeasurable and stands as an example to his family and beyond. In his retirement, he enjoyed fishing with friends and family, reading his bible, which was always right beside his favorite chair, and offering help with any and all projects that others needed help with. Most of all, he enjoyed time spent with family, whether it was family game night or many of the memorable family vacations they took together. He gave the best hugs and always made every grandchild feel like they were the most special person. He was a long-time member of First Baptist Church of Kettering and most recently attended Grace Baptist of Kettering. Bill’s selfless and faithful character will be missed by all who knew him, loved him, and were loved by him. The faith and love he had for the Lord and his hope in his heavenly home will continue to encourage other’s hearts forever.
Bill is preceded in death by his loving wife of 64 years, Faye Carpenter; granddaughter, Amanda “Mandee” Faye Bloomer; and his parents.
He is survived by his children; Connie (Buddy) Bloomerand their daughter Megan; Cindy (Kent) Stuck and their children, Luke (Lexi), Blake (Michelle) and Zak (Katie); Greg (Barb) Carpenter and their children, Ashton (Ryan), Dexter (Hayley) and Cole (Brittany); Belinda (Tim) Trepanier and their children, Kyle (Cassi) and Chad (Sarah); great-grandchildren, Parker, Presley, Evelyn, Walker, Annabelle, Franklin, Owen, and Manning; siblings, Verda Carpenter, Allie (Darrell) Sexton, and Ada (William) Ballard; and numerous cherished nieces, nephews, and other extended family.
