BORCHERS, D.D.S., William David, age 65, of Oakwood, passed away peacefully on March 8, 2018. He graduated from Chaminade High School (1971) and earned both his undergraduate and D.D.S. degrees from The Ohio State University (1977). After only 3 years of undergraduate studies, Bill was accepted to The Ohio State College of Dentistry as 1 of only 5 students in a class of 201 due to his high credentials. He established his own private dental practice in Oakwood and after 20 years relocated to E. Stroop Rd. where he practiced for 12 more years. His practice and patients brought him true joy. There are many healthy and beautiful smiles in Dayton because of Dr. Borchers.
Bill was a master storyteller and could find humor in any situation. He captivated people, many times his own patients - they would leave amused and entertained, making their dental visits surprisingly enjoyable.
He had a creative mind and artistic talents. Bill enjoyed oil painting, using his dental tools to make jewelry, and showering his daughter, Christina, and his friends with his unique creation of keepsake letters and cards. Together with his daughter he wrote, illustrated and published a trilogy of childrens books about Adventures with Buster (his dalmatian) available at Oakwood Wright Library and her elementary school at the time.
Bill believed in the importance of time and space and that less is more. His favorite time was spent with family. His wife and daughter were the loves of his life and his dalmations brought him happiness. He was a generous and kind person. For many years he bought and hand wrapped hundreds of gifts and gave them to nursing home residents for Christmas. He enjoyed gardening in the yard at his office and had the pleasure of seeing his daughter hand deliver a bouquet of his calla lilies to President Clinton while he was in Dayton. Bill was proud of his familys business, Borchers Ford, and recalled fondly his first job washing cars at the dealership.
He is preceded in death by his parents, David and Joan Borchers; and his in-laws Elias and Laurence Warwar. He is survived by his devoted wife of 38 years Dr. Samia Borchers, his loving daughter Christina; his siblings Joanie Burkhardt, Dotty Creech, Dan Borchers, Karen Borchers, Kathy Borchers, Dr. Glen Borchers, Doug Borchers; his in-laws Sam, Mona, and Ron Warwar; and many nieces and nephews.
