William Douglas Bloebaum Jr.

BLOEBAUM, William Douglas Jr, "Bill", age 77, of Dayton, Ohio, passed away Thursday, May 11, 2017. Bill was born in Corpus Christi, Texas in 1939 to William Douglas "Doug" and Lida Boone Bloebaum. He graduated from Redlands High School (California) in 1958, received his BS in Chemical Engineering from The Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1962, and his MBA from Stanford University in 1964. At MIT, Bill was a member of Phi Kappa Sigma Fraternity, and the varsity baseball and basketball teams. He was a devout follower of Christ and was an active member of Fairhaven Church in Centerville, Ohio, and Clear Lake Bible Church in Fremont, Indiana. At Fairhaven, Bill was instrumental in launching the Business As Mission Ministry, and had the opportunity to travel around the world as part of that program. Bill's career in Dayton began in 1984 in the finance department at LexisNexis, then known as Mead Data Central, where he eventually held the post of CFO. He later moved to Mead Corporation where he served as Treasurer and retired in 2001 as President of Mead's Pulp Sales Division. After retirement Bill served as interim president of Victoria Theater Association. Preceded in death by his parents, Doug and Lida Bloebaum. He is survived by his wife and sweetheart of 55 years, Margaret; sister, Katherine B. Brail; son, William Douglas Bloebaum, III and his wife, Amy; daughter, Deborah Elise Poll and her husband Kurt; son, Michael Boone Bloebaum and his wife, Liz; 9 grandchildren Bill, Kristena, Sam, Ashley, Maria, Emily, Tommy, Bennett, and Justin; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Burial services were held in Clear Lake, Indiana on Saturday, May 13. A memorial service for all who wish to attend is planned for 4:00pm on Saturday, June 24 in the Schwalm Chapel at Fairhaven Church, 637 East Whipp Rd, Centerville, Ohio. The family would like to express thanks for the excellent care provided by Fidelity Independent Care Services and by Hospice of Dayton. In lieu of flowers, friends may make memorial contributions to Dayton's Stivers School for the Arts through its Seedling Foundation, P.O. Box 1858, Dayton, OH 45401-1858 (www.theseedlings.org) or to Clear Lake Bible Church, P.O. Box 278, Fremont, IN 46737.
