KELLY, William Francis, age 85, of Kettering, passed away Thursday, September 24, 2020. William was born July 24, 1935 in Chicago, IL to Francis and Loretta (Gallagher) Kelly. He graduated from St. Mary of the Barrens-National Shrine of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal, and attended DePaul University.
William worked and retired from Hobart Manufacturing as a purchasing manager. In his spare time, he volunteered for the City of Kettering’s Planning Commission, and a past treasurer of the Southside Club.
William was a member of the Church of the Ascension, and helped to raise funds for the new church. An avid reader, he could often be found with a book in his hands. William never ran out of jokes to tell. He cherished the time he spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.
William is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, John, Emmett, Thomas, and Richard Kelly; brothers-in-law, J.J. Cunningham and Pat Lynch; sister-in-law Mary (Fred) Dalton. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Kate Kelly; children, Frank (Shannon) Kelly and Shelia (James) Schaaf; grandchildren, Maura, Liam, Lili, Lucy And Joey; sisters, Mary Denise (Bob) Vogler, Frannie Cunningham, Kay Lynch; brother, Dennis (Vicki) Kelly; sister-in-law Polly Kelly; sister-in-law, Ellen Kelly, Brother to Padraig(Kathleen) Deane, Margaret Deane, Anthony Deane, Bridgett Hines (Michael), Mamie (Tommy) Sweeney, Celia Deane, Ellie (Tony) Keane, Mic Deane and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place Friday, October 9 at 11:00am at Church of the Ascension, 2001 Woodman Dr., Kettering. Family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
