, age 84, of Dayton, passed away Tuesday, June 4, 2002 at Sycamore Hospital after a brief illness. He was born December 15, 1917, the son of the late John Coryell Hays and Sylvia Bowman Hays of Williamsport, Pennsylvania. Bill was an Air Corps veteran of WWII and the Korean War, flying the Thunderbolt fighter in combat. After combat duty, he tested a wide variety of aircraft. Bill retired from the Army Reserve. He worked for the Bethlehem Corporation for 44 years, retiring in 1980. Preceded in death by his first wife, Frances West Hays; brother, John Bowman Hays; and infant son, William Hays. Survived by wife, Jeanette K. Hays of Centerville; his son , John Marshall Hays of Racine, WI; step-daughter, Cynthia Karas of Detroit, MI; and step-son, Gregory Karas of Dayton. Funeral services will be held at the Woodland Mausoleum Chapel, 118 Woodland Ave. Dayton, Friday, June 7, at 1:30 PM., The Rev. Melody Williams officiating. Friends may call at the mausoleum from 12:30 until time of service. Private entombment at the mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to, Hospice of Dayton, P.O.
