William Irvin Hirsch Sr.

HIRSCH, William Irvin, age 80, of Kettering passed away on Wednesday, October 26, 2011. Bill was a graduate of Upper Darby High School located in Philadelphia, PA, class of 1949. In 1953, he graduated from Penn State University earning a Bachelors Degree in Business. Bill is a Korean War Veteran where he served as a 1st Lt. in the United States Air Force. He retired from J&L Steel after 35 years of dedicated service. Bill is a member of Grace United Methodist Church. He was known for his honesty, integrity, and morality and mentored many people in our community on the values of life. In addition, he enjoyed spending time with his family, friends and members of his church. He liked sports and always celebrated Penn State victories. He was a good friend of Bill W. Preceded in death by son, William I. Hirsch Jr., Bill is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Jody; daughters, Cathie Hirsch and Susan Barnett; son, Bob Hirsch; grandchildren, Brandon (Liz), Bobby, James, Elisabeth, Rebecca, Rachael, Jason, and Emily; great grandchildren, Amy, Dennis, and Kirstie; brothers, Fred (Marty) Hirsch and Dick (Betsy) Hirsch; and numerous nieces and nephews. Family will greet friends from 10:00-12:00pm on Saturday, October 29, 2011 at ROUTSONG FUNERAL HOME, 2100 E. Stroop Rd., Kettering, OH 45429. Funeral services will follow on October 29 at 12:00PM with Rev. Dr. Sherry Gale officiating. Burial will be at David’s cemetery at a later date.
