William J. Ashwell

ASHWELL, William J., 70, husband of Andrea Panchak Ashwell, passed away peacefully at home in Centerville, OH on Tuesday, February 28, 2017 after a lengthy illness with his wife by his side. Bill was born in Canton, OH on August 29, 1946 and grew up in Plantsville, CT. He graduated from Cheshire Academy and received a bachelor's degree from Parsons College in IA. He then served with the USMC in Quantico, VA. Bill was employed by New Departure Hyatt, division of General Motors in Bristol, CT. He entered the management training program, became a superintendent, and was the Plant Manager prior to the closing of the facility. He was a very dedicated employee for N.D.H. In 1994, Bill was relocated to the Needmore Rd. Delphi Brake Plant in Dayton, OH where he completed his 30 plus years of service and retired in 2002. Bill is predeceased by his parents William and Eleanor Ashwell of CT. He is also predeceased by his precious daughter Stephanie Ashwell of FL. Stephanie's mother Ella Ashwell of FL was an outstanding mother to Stephanie and was the devoted primary care giver to her for many years. Besides his wife, Bill is survived by his step daughter Melanie Foster Yanez and her husband Jay of CT. He is also survived by his special brother and sister-in-law James and Kathleen Ashwell of Newington, CT. Bill leaves his lifelong friends J. Boone Mahin Jr. of NC, James Palmieri of FL, Hank Krupa Jr. of CT and a special friendship with the entire Helen and Harold Donnelly family. Bill was a lifelong member of the Plantsville Congregational Church in CT. While living in Ohio, he attended The Harmony Creek Church and was a dedicated volunteer for the church's Feeding Friends Food Pantry. He was awarded the 2015-2016 volunteer of the year award by the Knights of Columbus of St. Charles Borromeo Parish Church. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Hospice of Dayton and many others for their care and support. Bill is loved and will be missed by so many people. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Bill's life at the Plantsville Congregational Church in Plantsville, CT. on Saturday, March 25, 2017 at 11am. Donations can be made in Bill's memory to the Plantsville Congregational Church or the food Pantry of their choice.
