William Joseph Warning

June 27, 1934 — March 15, 2011

WARNING, William J. (Bill), age 76, of Kettering, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, March 15, 2011. Bill was a graduate of St. Henry High School, Erlanger, KY in 1953 and retired from Sears & Roebuck in 1993 after 27 years of dedicated service in sales and management. He was a member of St Francis Assisi Catholic Church (Centerville, Ohio), St. Francis Mens Club, Catholic Order of Foresters. A devout family man whose unconditional love, warm personality, integrity and honesty inspired both family and friends. His most cherished life moments have always been in the presence of those who are closest to him. He held those times up as what his life represented. His love was felt by so many. He especially loved the holidays because it brought family and friends together. While at Sears he played Santa Claus. For many years he actually had many of his grandchildren convinced he was the real deal as he visited them on Christmas morning. Mom even got caught kissing Santa Claus. His friends were so dear to him. They were either heading out for dinner, or to the Norris Lake house or someplace to pull a slot or two. He was a great man by any measure that means anything. His sole purpose in life was to give of himself to others; husband to wife, brother to brother, father to son or daughter, grandfather to grandchild, uncle to niece or nephew, friend to a friend. He was a man who never put himself first, ever. He always thought of everyone before himself. He was a man of faith who was once questioned, Have you ever doubted Jesus which he answered with an immediate and vehement NO! He will be missed by many, but the wonderful cherished memories of his presence will live with us forever. We are all blessed to have known him and we are all better people because of him. It is not good-bye, but see you later. Preceded in death by Norbert B. Warning (father), Katherine R. Warning (mother, nee Grote), and brothers Jack, Bob, and Jerry Warning. He is survived by his loving wife Kathleen Ann Warning (nee Dorsey); sons Tim Warning (Alison), Jeff Warning (Cindy); daughters Martha Chamberlain (Jerry), Kathy Palmer, Christine Baylis (William); 10 grandchildren Todd, Robert, Tyler, Melanie, Dianna, Matthew, Beth, Michael, Caroline, & Alexandra; 35 Nieces & Nephews; and his wonderful friends Ed & Ginny Kilian, Al and Rita Pancake, Tim and Kae Quinlan, Ken and Judy Scott, Ron Volosin and all of his friends at The Castle in Centerville, OH. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00PM on Friday, March 18, 2011 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 6245 Wilmington Pike, Centerville, OH 45459. Family and friends will be greeted at the visitation 2 hours prior, from 10:00 AM-12:00 PM at the church. A special thanks to his brother Jerrys wife, Ruthie and their 6 children who for a special day in January made his pain disappear by just being there and expressing their love. His niece Mary Jo Schied and her husband Gordie who braved the snow to be with him. To Moms (Kathleens) brother Irvin and his wife Joyce, who visited from VA in January for 4 days and just had fun being there. To Moms brother Jackie and his wife Dee in Florida, your prayers were felt from the distance many times. To his cousins David MacPherson and Father Sandy MacPherson who created a lasting memory by celebrating Mass in our backyard last summer. We will cherish those moments forever. To his best friends, Al, Tim, Ron, and Ken who were always by his side. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all the support you provided the family during this difficult time, To our neighbors Ed and Ginny Killian, your close presence during the times when we needed it was so comforting. To everyone at Hospice of Dayton, you were instrumental in Dads care. We are grateful for all your help you gave us to insure Dads comfort. Finally, a special thanks to everyone at The Castle. Dad loved you and his work at The Castle meant so much to him. We are grateful for your constant presence in his life. It is a special place for him and we know his spirit will always be present with you. Thank you for all you did for him and our family. You are truly one of the finest charitable organizations. In lieu of flowers Dad (Bill) requested donations are made to Friends of the Castle, 133 North Main Street, Centerville, OH 45459 or Hospice of Dayton at www.hospiceofdayton.org/donations/ .
