KENDELL, William Michael "Bill", age 72, of Oakwood, passed away on Monday, December 30, 2013 at his home. Bill was born on October 15, 1941 in Dayton to the late Worley and Norma Kendell. He graduated from Oakwood High School in 1959 and earned a degree in Journalism from Ohio University where he was a member of the Phi-Delta Theta fraternity. Bill was part-owner of Kendell Construction Company and The Heights Health and Racquet Club. He was the past chair of the City of Oakwood Planning Commission and the Friends of Smith Gardens. Bill, an animal lover, enjoyed fishing, boating, and spending time with his grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his brothers, Jim and Tom Kendell. Bill is survived by his children, Lisa (Seth) McLaughlin, Lori (John) Jervis, and Nicole (Sven Bergmann) Kendell; grandchildren, Maddie, Max, Murphy, Trent, Logan, Taylor, Sophie, and Stella; former wife, Ponnie Kendell; and companion, Kathy Davis. A memorial service will be held at 5:00pm on Friday, January 3, 2014 at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 East Stroop Road, Kettering. Family will greet friends following the service until 7:30pm. In memory of Bill, donations may be made to SICSA or to Friends of Smith Gardens.
